SERVICE
I offer the following service to individuals, leaders, and executives across Wales and online.
BriefCoaching® is focused psychological coaching for people who want to make concrete changes in their lives.
People choose to work with me when they want help with:
-
lack of confidence or self-doubt
-
anxiety or persistent worry
-
past events that continue to hold you back
I also work with leaders and executives who want to:
-
lead others with more confidence
-
make decisions and stand by them under pressure
-
stop repeating unhelpful patterns with people or priorities
-
take responsibility more clearly as a leader
The same BriefCoaching® approach applies whether the focus is personal, professional, leadership, or executive.
The service:
-
three one-to-one sessions (on average one hour, with the first session usually longer)
-
usually spaced around a week apart
-
delivered online as standard
In some cases, the first session can take place face-to-face by arrangement.
How the work actually happens:
Sessions are structured around direct questions. These questions matter — but they are not the work on their own.
The real work happens between the questions and between sessions.
Throughout the work, I draw on psychological frameworks, clinical understanding, practical strategies, and lived experience that I have applied myself and used successfully with hundreds of clients. This includes how people think, speak to themselves, avoid responsibility, manage discomfort, and repeat patterns that keep them stuck.
I will introduce skills, ways of thinking, and practical approaches as and when they are useful. This is not theoretical and it is not generic. It is grounded in psychology and in what actually works in real life.
The questions create clarity.
The work around them is where change happens.
What to expect from the sessions:
The process can be fast, but it is always purposeful.
We focus on one thing only — the issue that matters most to you right now and that you want above all else to change.
I guide the conversation by asking direct questions. You find the answers. Silence is fine and often necessary.
My role is to be honest, psychologically supportive, and to keep you focused.
Sometimes we pause to deal with something blocking progress — a strong emotion, a reaction, or an old pattern you keep repeating. That is part of the work.
Sessions are not padded. When the work is done, we stop — that’s why it’s called BriefCoaching®.
Session 1:
I will ask:
-
What do you want?
-
Why do you want it?
-
Why now?
-
Where are you now in relation to this? (scale 1–10)
-
What difference would achieving this make?
-
How important is this to you? (scale 1–5)
-
How committed are you to doing what it takes, even if it’s uncomfortable? (scale 1–5)
-
How do you handle setbacks?
-
How do you handle success?
I will then ask how you typically get your own way in life, which strategies are no longer serving you, and how you sabotage yourself — for example by waiting and hoping, avoiding decisions, playing the victim, or manipulating situations.
We will identify three things you know you need to do but have been avoiding, sometimes for years.
From these, I will help you choose one action to take this week — the step most likely to create a domino effect.
I will only work with you on one priority at a time, and only if you are prepared to do what is uncomfortable but necessary.
Language and excuses:
Certain phrases you use to hold yourself back will be challenged when they appear, including:
-
“I can’t”
-
“That’s too hard”
-
“What will people think?”
-
“I’m anxious, so I can’t”
-
“I’ve always been like this”
-
“I’ll always be like this”
-
“Now isn’t a good time”
This is not about being harsh. It is about not allowing language to become an excuse for staying stuck.
I will support you, but I will not agree with thinking or language that works against you.
You will keep your own notes during sessions as a record of decisions and actions.
Sessions 2 and 3:
Sessions 2 and 3 build directly on what you have done.
I will ask:
-
Where are you now in relation to what you want? (scale 1–10)
-
What did you do?
-
What happened?
-
What worked?
-
What didn’t?
-
What did you avoid?
-
What will you do next, and why?
Each session ends with one clear decision about what you will do before we meet again.
In the final session, I will also ask:
-
What are your key takeaways?
-
What three priorities (maximum) will you carry forward?
-
If I met you in a year, where would you be if you continued acting this way?
-
Do you want or need my continued support?
Expectations and fee:
This is a focused, specialist service.
People who choose to work with me are investing in clear, structured psychological coaching delivered with direct input, challenge, and support. It is not casual, exploratory, or drop-in work.
Fees reflect the nature of the service and the level of involvement required. They are discussed as part of the application process, before any work begins.
If you are looking for low-cost, open-ended, or purely conversational support, this approach is unlikely to be the right fit.
After the three sessions:
At the end of the work, you may be offered optional ongoing support for 6 or 12 months, usually through monthly check-ins.
This is entirely optional and taken only if you decide it would genuinely help you progress further.
